Cuisine

Pest-Buda Bistro, from the creators of 21!

Grandma's home style hungarian dishes, from the best ingredients:
simple, pure, from the best ingredients, prepared with care and love.

Top gastronomy with beautiful wines in a medieval building and a casual atmosphere that is both traditional and fresh. All this in an original way, without the «typical Hungarian restaurant» cliches. The expeience is amplified by the beautiful medieval neighborhood of the Buda Castle.

«At Pest-Buda we cook as our grandmas did, plus we have the best technology, -cooks and -ingredients available in Hungary»

Wines

We only carry Hungarian wines and only those with a distinctive character. This means our wines clearly differ from other wine regions of the world. We thus feature several limited titles often not found anywhere else, and our wine list is constantly "in motion".

Story

Number 3 Fortuna Street was originally built as an inn and has been used as such until 1800. It has taken up its current architecture after the 2nd World War, has an original baroque roof structure and the ground floor has been a tavern or restaurant for several centuries.

We have been given the opportunity to run and rethink Pest-Buda completely – from the kitchen to the design – and bring back its old glory. We have thus completely renovated the restaurant and house structure, installed a high end kitchen in the wine cellar and reopened it in 2011:

  • together with Zsolt Litauszki creative chef of Pierrot Restaurant and 21 Restaurant (15 Gault Millau points), we have worked for months to master the art of baking the perfect artisanal flamed pie, and rediscover several hungarian classics

  • we have teamed up with Tibor Somlai interior designer to realize our concept of "casual classical hungarian bistro, but in a fresh way"

  • graphic design was realized by Géza Ipacs graphic designer most famous for the wine labels he designed for the best Hungarian winemakers.
